On May 20–21, 2011, the Sixth International and Multidisciplinary Conference of the European Research Network on Pentecostalism (‘GloPent’) was held at Uppsala University. The plenary speakers all related to the overall theme in one way or another. Kajsa Ahlstrand, Professor of World Christianity and Interreligious Studies, Faculty of Theology, Uppsala University discussed ”The Family in Contemporary Ecumenical Debate”. Rijk van Dijk, Researcher at the African Studies Center, University of Leiden, lectured on “Pentecostal Reformulations of Marital Relations in Botswana; Processes of Responsibilization and Emotionalization in Times of AIDS.” Amos Yong, J. Rodman Williams Professor of Theology at Regent University School of Divinity, Virginia Beach, Virginia, gave a talk on "Children of the Promise (Acts 2:39): Toward a Pentecostal Theology of the Family." Finally, Peter G. Stromberg, Professor of Cultural Anthropology, University of Tulsa, Oklahoma, presented a paper on “A Neo-Weberian Perspective on Ecstasy, Commitment, and Habitus”.

The six workshops were divided into three tracks: “Pentecostalism and Gender” (2), “General Studies of Pentecostalism” (2) and “Pentecostalism and the Family” (2). All of the 17 papers presented new and ongoing work on Pentecostalism in different regions and from different disciplinary angles, thereby demonstrating the vibrancy of Pentecostal studies in our GloPent network.

There were some social events organized during and after the Conference, the main being a Conference Dinner at “Norrlands Nation” (an ancient student organization at Uppsala University).

Overall there were about forty registered attendants. The organizers were pleased to host the conference and enjoyed the overall quality of the papers as well as the many stimulating discussions at the plenary sessions and workshops. Papers from the conference will be presented as a special issue of GloPent's  peer-reviewed journal Pentecostudies.
