PentecoStudies editorial statement

Operation

This free electronic journal requires no subscriptions. Articles can be downloaded from the website of the European Research Network on Global Pentecostalism (www.glopent.net). The journal consists of two sections: one dealing with topics in the social sciences, the other with topics of theological interest. Articles will be submitted to anonymous peer review and will be published as soon as they have been approved. The editorial board will serve as a guarantee for the quality of the articles published. The journal also contains a list of recent publications and a review section.

Editorial Policy

PentecoStudies has an interdisciplinary approach to the study of Pentecostal/Charismatic Christianity.

The social sciences section of the journal will pay special attention to the rapid expansion of Pentecostalism and Charismatic movements. The editor welcomes comparative studies on this issue. In addition, monographic studies of local Pentecostal churches and Charismatic groups are welcome. The latter may refer to the globalization process as it occurs on the local level. A third area is the religious experience that is typical of Pentecostal and Charismatic believers.

The theological section focuses primarily on the history and current status of revival movements of the Holy Spirit in the Christian Church and the theological interpretation of Pentecostal/Charismatic experience. Secondly, studies on coherent patterns of explanation that facilitate the interpretation of basic Pentecostal/Charismatic beliefs are welcome, such as the theology of creation and that of redemption in their bearing on created (or so-called 'natural') gifts and gifts of grace or gifts of the Holy Spirit respectively. Here, links can be made with the study of the history of religions and of parapsychological approaches. A third point of interest concerns the ecclesiological implications of the growth of Pentecostal/Charismatic movements for traditional churches.

The preference for specific areas of research does not exclude submission of manuscripts on other aspects.
