Allan is Professor of Mission and Pentecostal Studies at the the Centre for Pentecostal and Charismatic Studies in the Department of Theology and Religion at the University of Birmingham, where he has been working since 1995. A former minister and theological educator in Southern Africa, his publications include Zion and Pentecost (2000), African Reformation (2001), An Introduction to Pentecostalism (2004, 2014), Spreading Fires (2007), and To the Ends of the Earth (2013). He has edited Pentecostals after a Century (with Walter J. Hollenweger, 1999), Asian and Pentecostal (with Edmond Tang, 2005, 2012) and Studying Global Pentecostalism (with M. Bergunder, A. Droogers & C. van der Laan, 2012). His current book project is on Pentecostalism and the spirit world.
