I am an Australia Research Council Future Fellow at the Religion and Society Research Centre, University of Western Sydney, Australia.
I am the editor of the 'Religion in the Americas' book series, Brill. My project it titled: "Pentecostal Connections: Migration, Missionaries, Mobility and Media between Australia and Brazil." This research explores the role played by Pentecostalism in the social welfare of Brazilian students and migrants. Australian Pentecostal mega-churches – some of which have branches in Brazil – help to attract young Brazilians to Australia. Together with Brazilian churches with branches in Australia, they assist with Brazilian students’ and migrants’ settlement by providing a sense of belonging and community. This project investigates the constitution of a transnational religious field between Australia and Brazil.
