I have recently completed a PhD in Social Anthropology at the London School of Economics. My doctoral thesis studies two Pentecostal churches (Assemblies of God and Foursquare church) in two towns in the South-East of the Republic of Benin, a semi-rural setting characterised by its ethnic and religious diversity. It explores ruptures and continuities in kinship relations and the ways in which Pentecostalism opens a space for redefining forms of relating through a selective re-appropriation of certain cultural norms and values.
