I have just defended my PhD on the 9th of May. I am currently applying for a Postdoctoral fellowship with the following title: The Experience of the Spirit in Pentecostal Theology: Towards Overcoming Christomonism in Catholic and Evangelical Contexts
This research focuses on overcoming Christomonism in Roman Catholic and Evangelical contexts, which has devastating social consequences such as exclusion, violence, and gender issues linked to Catholic ecclesiology and Evangelical biblical literalism, by exploring Pentecostal theologies and their focus on the religious experience of the Spirit. The research is important to theology and to those facing exclusion or violence in the aforementioned contexts, namely women and LGBTQIA+ people who suffer the harmful effects of Christomonism. Current scholarship highlights Christomonism's harmful effects but failed into identifying and addressing its practical consequences. Pneumatological renewal overcoming Christomonism has been considerably developed in scholarship, yet its practical consequences, such as gender issues and religious violence, remain underexplored. The research hypothesis is that the Pentecostal theology of the religious experience of the Spirit can overcome these practical issues. The project advances scholarship by linking Christomonism to exclusion and violence against gender and diversity and by addressing this problem. The method is source-oriented, engaging particularly with literature on Christomonism, prejudice against women and LGBTQIA+ people in these contexts, and Pentecostal theology.
