The European Pentecostal Charismatic Research Association invites to a joint conference with the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies in Oxford, England, 12–15 August, 2009.

The conference theme "Mission and other Faiths, Mission and Power, Mission and Unity" focuses, in view of the 2010 Edinburgh Mission Conference on three loci that are particularly relevant. The issue of mission and other faiths addresses the means and attitudes of sharing the gospel. What are the challenges? Any reflection of missionary activity also relates to power, be it understood spiritually, economically, nationally or culturally.  Power is a two edged sword. How does a Christian view differ from other perspectives?  As many churches have engaged in missionary activity, the question arises how the churches can be a common witness of Christ. What forms of unity can be striven for? Who would define Christianity in a certain geographical area? What kind of unity are we speaking about?

The papers presented by representatives of different Christian traditions and professional backgrounds, from Europe and overseas, will reflect on these themes with special regard to what Pentecostalism and the charismatic movement can  contribute, and where challenges are being faced.
The contributions will look at various sides of the issues drawing from areas of theological studies, church history, pastoral ministry, intercultural relations, Biblical studies and philosophy. Furthermore, there will be papers that are interdisciplinary in nature, incorporating for instance sociological, economic, and political issues.
